What is an Atom feed? Or RSS?

RSS, Atom and similar technologies exist in the background of most blogs. It’s a simple way of tracking new posts that are published.

I use a few Feed Reader apps, or services for different purposes. I’m recommending these ones as good starting points if you’re unfamiliar with what they are and how they work.

• NetNewsWire
• Inoreader
• Feedly

These are easy to use and there are lots of tutorials out there to help you get started. There are plenty of free apps, so there’s no need to pay unless you want some extra features.

If you use a bookmarking service, it might already include the option to follow blogs or news sites.
